A Saturday shopping in Rouen! Since i was little i have always seen the cathedral with scaffoldings!

And on Sunday, we took the dogs for a walk. Back to the country!

When i was treasure hunting last week, i found this strange little box. It was hidden behind some copper and pewter. I found this box rather old, but don't know it's age? i am looking for some information about it. It is written fine pewter underneath and has a rose drawing? I just find what it was, a salt box from the begining of the 20th century!

It looks rather old. Have you any idea? The box has a lid.

Now, do you know the pottery from Alsace (east of France)? this is a little one.

Today, I found a new interesting magazine, it's about romantic and shabby style. I thought it might interest you. Then, as it is trerrible outside! i can't take any pictures, so i cought glimpse of my home!

I found this small piece, looking like Wedgewood. I love the light blue colour and the little angels. This statue is a Torralba Spanish one and goes well with the soft colours of my other porcelain.

Yesterday, i went to " les puces" not in Paris, but in Rouen. It is an antique and brocante show, which is huge! so many beautiful things to see. But, photos were not allowed.I found this little baby plate, which keeps baby's meal warm.

I love the decor.

I also love the cork with a little bird, isn't it sweet!

The light not been very good today, in fact it is a white and blue enameled coffee pot.

Paris in a bottle!

I found this Eiffel tower bottle, which was a cognac bottle and i bought it for my shop. I have never seen such a bottle before!

Return from Lapland! My daugter, just came back from a treck in Lapland and brought me some pictures. I wanted to share some of them with you. They have learned to survive in the wild!!! make fire with no matches, catch fish...They were in a camp and had to look after their dogs, doing sledge and snowbike. I found these dog eyes fabulous!

Yesterday, between two storms! there is one more for two days here! i went treasure hunting and i came across this enamelded salt box.

One job for me this afternoon, clean it!

these two coffe grinders, the one on the right is in metal and very rare.

a few weeks ago, i came across this Virgin Mary statue and kept it for me.

Now she stands in my bedroom.

I am on the point of getting a doll house, i would love that one! and i am sure i could get everything i need to furnish it from my bogging friends who are doing minis. They are creating such nice things! I have already some furniture and decorations, but i would like it to be a copy of a real house, so i will take my time and look or order beautiful pieces.Lots of blogging friends specialities are minis.

What is this? I was given this russian vintage vodka set for Christmas, isn't it funny and kitch! it dates back to the 70's.

The vodka glasses are small fish.

I found these old milk pitchers

and these very old french jam jars, got 11 of them. They are very rare nowadays, but i was lucky!

Their contenance is 500gr and they are not all the same.

Yesterday, i have been baking for Christmas, making some home made lemon curd biscuits.
The day before , i made my own lemon curd and yesterday the lemon biscuits. I have tasted them and they are delicious ( for those who love lemon!)

These, will soon be on my Christmas tree! I love these glass birds from Alsace's NOËL market.

They are so delicate, fragile and beautiful! they remind me the Christmas of my childhood. We had some birds like these one, and i was so glad to atke them out of their box each year. I used to do the Christmas tree withmy father, while listening to Christmas Carols. The apotheosis was when we lighted the tree.

I am busy those days with my etsy shop and making crocheted flowers before Christmas. I have time to catch up and visit your blogs! Today, is a special day, it is St Catherine! the custom here for the girl's who are not married in their 25th year, have to wear a green and yellow hat. There was a procession going to the church, and they bring their hat to St Catherine's statue to get married the coming year!

It is also nice when you turn it upside down.

I found this today in Rouen and i like it very much, the glass is nicely worked.

Last night, I was trying a tutorial i saw on a blog.The problem is just to find something to make smaller holes and i must practice! I found the card on Mary's shop NaturePoet and the tuto on DUTCH sisiter's blog , if you are interested.

I made it very quickly while watching tv , but i understood how it works and translated the crochet explanations.

Their blog is very creative and the tutorials well explained.
This week end, we will have a special Christmas lunch as my son i living next week to work in DubaÏ and won't be with us for Christmas.I wish you all a great week end!

Today, I am going to tell you about our french " Bécassine"! In fact she is coming from Brittany ( i have nothing against our neighbours from Brittany! it is actually close to Normandy) Bécassine, was named after the word "bécasse" which is a bird (woodcock)but here it is "simpleton". I was very found of these books, because all sorts of adventures happened to her!

She was called Bécassine, because a lot of woodcocks were in the sky the day of her birth . It was not of a good omen as she is stupid!

The poeple are wearing their folkloric cortumes and wear the famous clogs. This was my favorite book during my childhood, I just found it among my children's books today.

This old pair of gloves after been cleanned! I wanted to have a look at the embroided sheets, but it was so crowded, i only got an embroided towel and this pair of gloves.

Iam particularly glad with this English tea set.

Yesterday, I decided to use some honey and make a cake.

"Grand blond au miel"

400gr flour
40gr cornflour (maïzena)
1 paquet baking powder(11gr)
1 paquet vanilla flavored sugar.(11gr)
70gr honey
250gr melted butter
6 eggs
5gr salt
1/2 dl milk

1- Mix flour ,cornflour and baking powder.
2- Mix butter, sugar, vanilla flavoured sugar, sugar, salt, honey and eggs.
3-Mix 1&2 together and add milk.
Cook in the middle of your oven 10minutes at 180°C, then at 150°C for one hour.

Today's post will be about my crochet flowers. I bought a book and decided to learn by myself, but it was hard job to learn all the basic crochet. Now i am able to do it (with my book!) but I like it very much and i think i am improving.

Today, when I woke up, there was a little ray of sun in my bedroom just by the angels.

I found this light beautiful and wanted to share it with you.

The weather being fine, I got up early this morning and went to my favorite antique shop. I found these lovely plates ready for Fall tablescape.

They are "Porcelaine de Limoges" plates.

This "Haviland" plate

I love the blue and the delicate roses

And some of these small plates from "Alsace". I have found and sold some curtains with the same pattern this summer, they are now in the USA!

I used to have hens in my garden and i loved to fetch the eggs. It's nice to have fresh eggs to cook with and know what your hens are eating! I would love to have a hen house safer enough against foxes as we live on the forest border; I found some nice ones, but not safe enough i am afraid.

It is time to collect the apples to make cider , here in Normandy

I just heard a recipe on the radio this morning "chicken with cider" i must try and give you the recipe. I love sweet cider, apple juice and apple jelly. We will soon have the apple festivals here and i am going to get cider... for the winter! Do you like apples and cider? i forgot , I love apple pies and crumbles!
